Highlights

  • Visit the Putra Mosque, famous for its rose-tinted granite dome
  • See the Perdana Putra, home of the Prime Minister's office, from its landscaped forecourt
  • Cross the Seri Gemilang Bridge, modelled on Malaysia's Sultan-era bridge architecture
  • Stroll through the Putrajaya Botanical Garden or along the Putrajaya Lake promenade

Full Description

Just 25km south of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya is Malaysia's planned federal administrative capital — a city of grand boulevards, artificial lakes and government buildings built from the 1990s onward, each in a distinct architectural style drawing on Malaysia's Islamic and colonial history. It's a striking contrast to the density of KL, and a favourite for photography thanks to its wide, uncluttered vistas.

The tour takes in the city's signature landmarks: the rose-granite Putra Mosque reflected in Putrajaya Lake, the domed Perdana Putra complex that houses the Prime Minister's office, and the Seri Gemilang Bridge, whose sweeping arches were inspired by the Sultan Iskandar Bridge design. Depending on the time available, the tour also stops at the Putrajaya Botanical Garden or takes a relaxed walk along the lakeside promenade.
