Escape the city for a day and head deep into the Pahang rainforest to the Kuala Gandah National Elephant Conservation Centre, run by Malaysia's Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN). Since 1989, the centre has been the frontline of Malaysia's "elephant translocation" program — relocating wild elephants that have wandered into farms and plantations, and caring for orphaned or displaced calves.

On arrival, your guide will walk you through the centre's conservation work before the keepers bring the elephants out for their feeding session — a firsthand look at these gentle giants up close. Depending on the day's program, there's also a chance to join the elephants at the river for a bathing session, splashing and scrubbing alongside the herd under the keepers' supervision.

Itinerary

1. 07:45–08:15am Standby for pickup
2. Journey from Kuala Lumpur to Lanchang, Pahang (2–2.5 hours approx.)
3. Arrive at the Kuala Gandah National Elephant Conservation Centre
4. Conservation briefing — learn about PERHILITAN's elephant translocation program
5. Watch the keepers feed the elephants
6. River bathing session with the elephants (seasonal, subject to the centre's animal welfare program on the day)
7. Free time to explore the centre's grounds and information displays
8. Lunch at a local restaurant near Lanchang (drinks not included)
9. Optional stop at a nearby fruit orchard or roadside stall (subject to time and season)
10. Head back to Kuala Lumpur
11. 18:00hrs/later drop off at the same locations where pick-ups occurred (depending on traffic conditions)
